Our Foundation

What We Believe

Household of Christ Church is rooted in LOVE, as taught by Jesus Christ. This is evidenced in the relationship between the Pastors and the congregants, or one member to another.

Roots for Growth,
Wings for Flight

As a part of Household of Christ Church, you shall receive roots for growth and wings for flight. The scripture behind THE HOUSEHOLD's divine mandate and the name, Household of Christ Church (aka The Gateway of Heaven) is rooted in Genesis 28:16-19.

"And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not... This is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven."

Genesis 28:16-17

What We Believe

Our Faith Statement

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God. When rightly divided and properly interpreted, it provides sufficient revelation for the church to be complete in doctrine, maturity, ministry and worship.

II Timothy 3:16; I Thess. 2:13; II Peter 1:19-21

We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Genesis 1:1; John 1:1, 10:30, 37-38; II Corinthians 13:14

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

Isaiah 7:14; Matt. 1:23; Luke 1:35; Heb. 4:15, 7:26; John 2:11; Col. 1:14; Matt. 28:6; Heb. 1:3; Acts 1:11; Rev. 19:11-16

We believe man is a created being, made in the likeness and image of God, but through Adam's transgression and fall, sin came into the world.

Romans 5:12, 3:23, 3:10; I John 3:8

We believe man's first step toward salvation is Godly sorrow that worketh repentance. The new birth is necessary to all men, and when experienced, produceth eternal life.

II Cor. 7:10; I John 5:12; John 3:3-5

We believe baptism in water is a direct commandment of our Lord, and is for believers only. This ordinance is a symbol of the Christian's identification with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection.

Matt. 28:19; Romans 6:4; Col. 2:12; Acts 8:36-39

We believe the baptism in the Holy Spirit is a gift from God as promised by the Lord Jesus Christ to all believers and is received subsequent to the new birth. This experience is accompanied by the initial evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Holy Spirit Himself giveth utterance.

Matt. 3:11; John 14:16-17; Acts 1:8, 2:4, 2:38-39, 19:1-7

We believe the Bible teaches that without holiness no man can see the Lord. We believe in the doctrine of sanctification as a definite, yet progressive work of grace, commencing at the time of regeneration and continuing until the consummation of salvation.

Hebrews 12:14; I Thess. 5:23; II Peter 3:18; II Cor. 3:18; Phil. 3:12-14; I Cor. 1:30

We believe healing is for the physical ills of the human body and is wrought by the power of God through the prayer of faith, and by the laying on of hands. It is provided for in the atonement of Christ, and is the privilege of every member of the church today.

Mark 16:18; James 5:14-16; I Peter 2:24; Matt. 8:17; Isaiah 53:4-5

We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation. We believe in the personal, premillennial, and imminent return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Acts 24:15; I Cor. 15:51-57; I Thess. 4:13-18; Rev. 20:4-6

We believe that the one who physically dies in his sins without accepting Christ is hopelessly and eternally lost in the Lake of Fire and, therefore, has no further opportunity of hearing the Gospel or repenting.

Hebrews 9:27; Revelation 19:20; Rev. 20:11-15

We believe in the sacraments of the church: Water Baptism, The Lord's Supper (Holy Communion), and Foot Washing.

Matt. 28:19; I Cor. 11:23-26; John 13:14-15

We believe the church is the body of Christ, the habitation of God through the Spirit, with divine appointments for the fulfillment of her Great Commission.

Ephesians 1:22-23, 2:19-22; Heb. 12:23

We believe the local church is a body of believers in Christ who have joined together to function as a part of the Church Universal.

Acts 2:41-47; Heb. 10:25

We believe in the divinely called and scripturally ordained ministry as the leadership of the local church.

Ephesians 4:11-12; I Timothy 3:1-13; Titus 1:5-9

We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image.

Genesis 1:26-27; Psalm 139:13-16

We believe that civil authority is of divine appointment, for the interests and good order of human society.

Romans 13:1-7; I Peter 2:13-17

We believe that every Christian, as a steward of that portion of God's wealth entrusted to him, is obligated to support his local church financially.

Genesis 14:20; Malachi 3:10; I Cor. 16:1-2; II Cor. 9:6-7

We believe the Holy Spirit bestows upon the believer spiritual gifts for the purpose of edifying the body and for ministry. We also believe and expect that a believer should show the fruit of the spirit.

I Cor. 12:4-11; Gal. 5:22-23

We believe that marriage is a sacred institution ordained by God to be between one man and one woman.

Genesis 2:24; Matt. 19:4-6; Ephesians 5:31

We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Genesis 1:1; John 1:1, 10:30, 37-38; II Corinthians 13:14
